Daniel P. Barker:

Daniel P. Barker, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Technical Director, Air Force Studies and Analyses Agency, Washington, D.C. Mr. Barker evaluates developments in science, technology and testing through interface with experts throughout the Department of Defense, as well as leaders in academia and industry, for inclusion in the agencys analytical methods and tools. He conducts quick-look analyses for senior leadership decisions and advises agency analysts.
Mr. Barker has a broad background, having been a U.S. Navy officer and a civil servant in the U.S. Army, and with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, in addition to his service with the Air Force. He has been involved in every major defense review since the first Base Force. While with the Army, he worked on combined arms analyses that focused on advancing the nations deployment of Theater Missile Defense and Directed-Energy Weapons. While working with the defense secretary, he managed the Infrastructure Map and conducted readiness assessments for the Defense Review Board.
In the Air Force, Mr. Barker has worked at the base, major command and departmental levels. He has worked with command and control, manpower and logistics, and programming of the Future Years Defense Program, in addition to his time conducting analysis. As an analyst, he has worked at the weapon system level developing tactics, at the campaign level developing operational art, and at the force structure level developing strategy options.
