Gary A. O'Connell:

Mr. Gary A. O?Connell is Associate Chief Scientist, Air and Electronics Directorate, National Air and Space Intelligence Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Mr. O?Connell provides technical oversight and leadership for more than 220 people. He is responsible for product content and quality for the directorate?s intelligence products, and he ensures these products satisfy the needs of the center?s joint operational, acquisition and policy-making customers.
Mr. O?Connell, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, began his government career as a co-operative student with the Naval Surface Weapons Center, Dahlgren, Va. Upon graduation from the University of Cincinnati, he started work as an air-to-air missile analyst for the Foreign Technology Division, now known as NASIC. He was appointed as Chief of the Air-to-Air Weapons Branch in 1988, and held several positions in management until 1997 when he was appointed the Associate Chief Scientist for Global Threat. He serves as the Air Force representative to the Weapon and Space Systems Intelligence Committee. He also served as the Air Force representative to the Scientific and Technical Intelligence Committee from 2001 through 2004. He was promoted to Defense Intelligence Senior Leader level when he assumed his current position in January 2004.
