John C. Mckeown:

John C. McKeown is Technical Director, Joint Strike Fighter Program, Arlington, Va. This joint program will develop and produce the next generation strike warfare weapon system for the Air Force, U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and other countries under partnership and foreign military sales plans. The focus of the program is on affordability - reducing development, production and ownership costs for the Joint Strike Fighter family of aircraft.
Mr. McKeown, a native of Pennsylvania, earned his bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Northern Colorado and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and has completed extensive graduate coursework in digital control systems.
Mr. McKeown served as an aerodynamicist with Sikorsky Aircraft prior to joining government service. His early assignments include supervisor of the Aircraft Systems Section for the Naval Weapons Laboratory, and professor of acquisition and program management for the Defense Systems Management College. He has served the majority of his career with the Naval Air System Command in positions of increasing responsibility. He headed numerous branches, was Technical Director of the Air Vehicle Department, and last served as Director of the Engineering Department. Mr. McKeown holds two patents for flight control design and was a private pilot.
