Rear Admiral Daniel Stephen Mastagni:

Position: Deputy Commander, Fleet Air Force Mediterranean
After flight school Rear Adm. Mastagni reported to Patrol Squadron 22 based in Hawaii. He was Schedules Officer and NATOPS Standardization Officer. He then reported to the US Air Force Academy serving as the director of Naval Programs and an academic instructor. Rear Adm. Mastagni left active duty in 1979 and affiliated with Patrol Squadron 94 in New Orleans. He served as an instructor pilot, Maintenance Department head and Operations Department head, before serving as Executive Officer and Commander Officer.
Rear Adm. Mastagni then transferred to augment unit NR NAVSTA Rota SP 0182 serving as Training Officer and Commander Officer. In 1993 Rear Adm. Mastagni assumed Command of NR COMPATWINGLANT 0186 in Norfolk, and followed that assignment with command of NR COMNAVAIRLANT 1086. During the four years of command in Norfolk, Rear Adm. Mastagni participated in five joint force exercises.
Rear Adm. Mastagni then transferred to NR COMSEVENTHFLT det 111 in JRB Fort Worth. He served as special assistant and Executive officer and participated in five western Pacific exercises.
Rear Adm. Mastagni was assigned duty as Deputy Commander U.S. Seventh Fleet. From July 2003 until September 2003, he served as Commander U.S. Naval Forces Korea, and a Seventh Fleet Task Force Commander. Rear Adm. Mastagni is presently Deputy Commander, Fleet Air Force Mediterranean.
Rear Adm. Mastagni has attended professional military education at the National Defense University, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the Army War College. He has participated in exchange duty with the Republic of Germany, and has been a member of numerous selection and policy boards. He is the Naval Reserve representative to employers supporting the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
Rear Adm. Mastagniís awards include the Legion of Merit, three Meritorious Service Medals and the Naval Commendation Medal among other awards and decorations.
