Rear Admiral Elizabeth M. Morris:

Rear Admiral Elizabeth M. Morris is originally from Glenside, Pa. A participant in the Navy Nurse Corps Collegiate Candidate Program, Rear Adm. Morris received the Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Delaware in 1973. Following Officer Indoctrination School in Newport,R.I., she served on active duty at Naval Hospital Charleston.
Initially released from active duty in 1975, Rear Adm. Morris pursued her civilian nursing career in California, Maryland, Florida and Virginia. She has held a variety of clinical staff and nursing faculty positions. Rear Adm. Morris received the Master of Nursing degree from the University of Florida in 1985 and completed the Post Master's Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program at The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., in 1999.
Rear Adm. Morris affiliated with the Naval Reserves in 1975 and has been a member of numerous units, including NR OPNAV 093 and Commanding Officer of NR NAS Whiting Field 0174. She served as the Navy Nurse Corps Representative to the 1989 Federal College of Nursing Task Force. During Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Rear Adm. Morris served at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery to coordinate the identification of reserve medical personnel for mobilization. Following her tour as the REDCOM Eight Staff Nurse Corps Officer from 1990 to 1992 she accepted a recall to active duty as Assistant to Director, Navy Nurse Corps, Reserve Matters. Completing this four year headquarters assignment, Rear Adm. Morris affiliated with the NR BUMED 106 Unit from 1996 through 1997. As Commanding Officer of NR NNMC Bethesda 106 from January 1998 through September 1999, Rear Adm. Morris was responsible for consolidating five medical units and implementing the Integrated Medical Support Plan.
Selected for promotion to Rear Admiral (Lower Half), Rear Adm. Morris served as Deputy Director, Navy Nurse Corps, Reserve Component from October 2000 through 30 September 2002. Appointed as a member of the Secretary of the Navy’s National Naval Reserve Policy Boards for 2002 through 2004, she chaired the Quality of Service Committee. Rear Admiral Morris subsequently served as Special Assistant to Deputy Chief, Reserve Affairs at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) through December 2004.
Promoted to Rear Admiral (Upper Half) on 1 October 2004, she became the Deputy Chief for Reserve Affairs at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery on 1 January 2005.
Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hourglass and Mobilization M.
Rear Adm. Morris is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner employed by Kaiser Permanente, Fairfax, Va.
