Rear Admiral Hamlin B. Tallent:

Rear Adm. Tallent was born and raised in the Missouri Ozark Mountains and graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1972. He attended Aviation Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in June 1973.
Rear Adm. Tallent served in Fighter Squadrons Twenty-One (VF-21) and One Fifty-Four (VF-154), and was a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer on USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63). He served as the Air Wing Operations Officer for Carrier Air Wing Three on USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). He commanded Fighter Squadron One Forty-Two (VF-142) and Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW-14).
Ashore, Rear Adm. Tallent was an instructor at the Navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) and the West Coast F-14 Fleet Replacement Squadron (VF-124). He also attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and earned a master's degree in public administration from George Washington University. He later served as an action officer on the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the J-5 Directorate. Rear Adm. Tallent commanded Tactical Training Group Atlantic and was the head aviation detailer for the Bureau of Naval Personnel.
Rear Adm. Tallent's first Flag assignment was the Director for Distribution, Bureau of Naval Personnel. His previous assignment was Commander, Carrier Group One.
Rear Adm. Tallent's personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (three awards), Defense Meritorious Service medal, Meritorious Service medal, Flight medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal.
