Rear Admiral John S. Godlewski:

A Connecticut native Rear Admiral John S. Godlewski is and graduated from the University of New Haven in 1974. He received his commission in 1976 via the Aviation Officer Candidate Program and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in June 1977.
After completion of A-6 training with VA-42 at NAS Oceana, Va., his initial fleet assignment was with VA-75 on board USS Saratoga (CV 60). Other sea duty assignments included tours with VA-55 on board USS Coral Sea, and two tours in VA-176 onboard USS Forrestal (CV-59). He was assigned to Attack Squadron 35 as the Executive Officer and assumed command of the squadron in July 1994. He had command of the squadron in preparation for and through its final deployment prior to its disestablishmement in 1996. He joined Carrier Air Wing Eight as the Deputy Air Wing Commander in January 1999 and deployed in USS Theodore Roosevelt for Operation Allied Force. He assumed command of the air wing in April 2000 and prepared them for and made the initial portion of the deployment in USS Enterprise (CVN 65).
His shore assignments include duty as an instructor in Attack Squadron Forty-Two, Readiness Officer on the Medium Attack Wing one Staff, Exercise Planner and Executive Assistant to the Director, Joint Exercises and Training (J-7) on the Joint Staff. Rear Adm. Godlewski also earned his Masters Degree from the Naval War College. He served as the Commander, Second Fleet Chief of Staff and is currently assigned to the Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Resources, Requirements and Assessments (N8).
Rear Adm. Godlewski’s awards in the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with one Gold Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross with V, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, two Strike Flight Air Medals, Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars and various unit and campaign awards.
