Rear Admiral Mark R. Feichtinger:

Rear Admiral Mark R. Feichtinger is the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, United States Strategic Command. As a member of the Joint STRATCOM Staff, he is responsible for advising the commander on the planning, coordination, and employment of Reserve component resources.
Upon commissioning in June of 1970, Rear Adm. Feichtinger pursued nuclear power training. Following submarine school, he served aboard USS Sturgeon (SSN 637), and qualified in submarines. In 1973, Rear Adm. Feichtinger reported to Nuclear Propulsion Training Unit in Schenectady, N.Y., as a leading instructor/engineering officer of the watch. Rear Adm. Feichtinger left active duty in September of 1975, and received a law degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in June of 1978. During law school, he served as the officer in charge of a reserve detachment supporting Naval Station, Pearl Harbor.
In 1978, Rear Adm. Feichtinger joined a Portland, Ore., law firm and continued his association with the Naval Reserve. Rear Adm. Feichtinger has served as commanding officer of units on the Pacific Coast, including NRSIMA Pearl Det 222, NR Subase Pearl Det 322, NR COMSUBRON 17 Det 1322, NR COMSUBGRU NINE Det 522, RU 2206B, and NR MSCO Oakland 122. Prior to assuming flag rank, Rear Adm. Feichtinger served as Senior Inspector and Assistant for Mission Effectiveness for Readiness Command Region Twenty-two. He has also served as Operation and Plans Department Head for Naval Coastal Warfare Group One. His submarine unit commands have included participation in PACSCOOPEX exercises involving remote replenishments of Trident submarines.
Rear Adm. Feichtinger has attended the Navy War College's Strategy and Policy course and Joint Military Operations course, the Naval Reserve Advanced Management Seminar, the PACFLT OTHT C4I course, the CINCLANTFLT Senior Reserve Officer Orientation Course and Capstone, and has served on numerous command and promotion selection boards.
As a Flag Officer, Rear Adm. Feichtinger has served as Deputy Commander (Mobilization), Submarine Forces, Pacific Fleet; Commander, Naval Reserve Readiness Command, an administrative command with oversight for an eight-state region with 17 reserve centers serving over 5,000 reservists, Region Twenty-two; and Director, Submarine Reserve, responsible to the Commander, United States Submarine Force, for the operational performance of 3,000 Navy reservists.
Rear Adm. Feichtinger, a native of Eugene, Ore., attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., where he graduated in 1970 with distinction in economics, was named to Phi Beta Kappa, and served as Battalion Commander of the NROTC.
