Rear Admiral Michael A. Lefever:

Rear Adm. LeFever is a 1976 graduate of United States Naval Academy where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Oceanography. His first sea duty tour was aboard USS Truett (FF 1095) where he served as Gunnery Officer, Anti-Submarine Officer and Combat Information Center Officer. Subsequent sea duty tours included Engineer Officer in USS Arthur W. Radford (DD 968), Executive Officer, USS Taurus (PHM 3) and USS Nicholson (DD 982), and Assistant Chief of Staff for Commander, Destroyer Squadron Three Six.
Rear Adm. LeFever commanded USS John Rodgers (DD 983) from 1993 through 1995, completing deployments to South America serving as Flagship for Commander, South Atlantic Force during UNITAS XXXIII, and later to the Adriatic as Flagship for the Commander, Standing Naval Force Atlantic in support of Operation Sharp Guard. John Rodgers won its first ever Battle "E" under his command. He served as Commander, Destroyer Squadron Twenty-One from December 1998 to July 2000. He deployed as the “Sea Combat Commander” for the John C. Stennis Battle Group in the western Pacific and Arabian Gulf.
Duties ashore included Director, Surface Officer Distribution Division, Navy Personnel Command (PERS-41) Millington, Tenn. Additional previous tours ashore included Action Officer in the Command, Control, Communications and Computer Directorate (J-6); Executive Assistant to the Vice Director, Joint Staff; Branch Head for Fleet Readiness and OPNAV Liaison and Executive Assistant to the Deputy and Chief of Staff, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; and Senior Fellow, Chief of Naval Operations, Strategic Studies Group (SSG). He earned a Master of Science Degree in Systems Technology, Command, Control and Communications at the Naval Postgraduate School and attended Armed Forces Staff College. He is also a fully qualified Joint Specialty Officer. Most recently he served as Deputy Director, Expeditionary Warfare Division, OPNAV N75, and has oversight of requirements and resources for Amphibious Ships, Mine Warfare Programs, Explosive Ordnance Programs to include Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection issues and Special Operations Force Integration. Additionally, he led a number of efforts under the Sea Base and Sea Shield Pillars of Seapower 21.
Rear Adm. LeFever's personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy Commendation Medal (3), Joint Service Achievement Award and various service campaign and unit decorations.
