Rear Admiral Robert Justin Cox:

Rear Adm. Cox served as Operations and MCM Officer USS Detector (MSO 429), Executive Officer USS Adroit (MSO 509), Fire Control Officer in USS Sellers (DDG 11), Combat Systems Officer in USS Antrim (FFG 20) and Executive Officer in USS Thomas S. Gates (CG 51). Command assignments include USS Fortify (MSO 446), USS Inflict (MSO 456) during Operation Earnest Will, USS Kidd (DDG 993), Destroyer Squadron 26, and Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group One, Commander, Carrier Strike Group Fifteen and Commander, Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group.
Shore assignments include Section Chief, Long-Haul Communications, Allied Forces Southern Europe, Naples, Italy; analyst on the Staff for Resources, Requirements, and Assessments Chief of Naval Operations (N81); Executive Assistant to the Director, Surface Warfare (N86); first Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Naval Warfare Requirements (N6/7); Director, Total Force Programming and Manpower Division (N12) at the Bureau of Naval Personnel, where he was promoted to Flag rank in September 2003.
Rear Adm. Cox reported to his current assignment as Associate Director, Assessment Division (N81D) in April 2005.
Rear Adm. Cox is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., where he completed a master's degree in Financial Management; and the National War College, Washington, D.C., where he received a master's degree in Strategy and Policy.
His awards include the Legion of Merit (three Gold Stars), Bronze Star with Combat V, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two Gold Stars), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Rear Adm. Cox was the Atlantic Fleet Shiphandler of the Year in 1982.
