Rear Admiral (Select) William P. Loeffler:

A native of Houston, Texas, Rear Admiral (Select) Loeffler graduated from United States Naval Academy in June 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science. He was designated a Naval Aviator at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, in April 1978.
Following fleet replacement training in the A-7E, Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler reported to VA-27, where he completed two cruises in USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) as a member of CVW-14.
In April 1982, Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler reported to VT-22 at NAS Kingsville, Texas, as a TA-4J Instructor Pilot. While there he received his Master of Arts degree in Business and Management from Webster University in October 1984.
In February 1985, Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler reported to USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) for duty as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer. He completed two cruises and received designation as Officer of the Deck (Underway).
In July 1987, Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler completed A-7E replacement pilot training and reported to VA-22 where he completed one cruise in USS Enterprise (CVN-65) as a member of CVW-11.
In January 1989 Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler reported to VA-122 as an A-7E Instructor Pilot. He left active duty in August 1989 with over 3,000 flight hours and 500 carrier landings.
Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler affiliated with the Naval Reserve in December 1989. He has served with Military Sealift Command 108 (CARIB), NR Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet Detachment 520, and as Executive Officer of NR Naval Air Station Lemoore 3490. Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler has commanded NR USS Independence (CV-62) 0176, NR USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) 0187 and NR Naval Station Rota 0167. He served as Assistant Chief of Staff (N-3/5/9) Current Operations/Plans/ Operational Requirements and Capabilities for NR Commander Sixth Fleet Detachment 802 prior to serving as Commanding Officer, NR Commander, Fleet Air Mediterranean 0167.
Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler was recalled to active duty in 2003 in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Noble Eagle and Iraqi Freedom as Naval Element Commander and Forward Logistics Support Site, Eastern Mediterranean, Officer-in-Charge, forward deployed, for Commander, Fleet Air Mediterranean.
Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler assumed command of NR Commander, Sixth Fleet Detachment 802 in October 2003.
Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler’s personal awards include: the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (four), Navy Commendation Medal (two), Navy Achievement Medal (two), and the Outstanding Military Volunteer Service Medal. He has attended the National Defense University Reserve Component National Security Course, the Naval War College Reserve Officer Joint Military Operations and Strategy & Policy courses and the USAF Combined Force Air Component Commander Senior Staff Course.
Rear Adm. (Select) Loeffler is a 767 Captain for United Airlines.
